On the ISTE website, these standards are said to “provide a framework for rethinking education, adapting to a constantly changing technological landscape, and preparing students to enter an increasingly global economy”. While I think this framework is a great initiative, I am hesitant to see the overall effectiveness of it because of the wide disparity of technology in our schools. Fortunately, all of my placements while at PC have had a large amount of technology, other schools have not. How can a school with wifi that is not even reliable be able to meet these standards? How can a teacher “promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility” without a projector or internet access?
Does anybody else agree?
