Smart Boards

After having class discussing smart boards I wanted to see what others had to say about using smart boards in the classroom. Did they agree with the class consensus that in some grade levels smart boards might not be as useful as some would they think would be? Or did they believe that smart boards were the way to go everywhere? I believe that smart boards in an elementary school do not really seem practical. They could easily buy a white board and get the same effect. The only thing that really stood out to me from this article was the idea that one could save the work done on the smart board. So if one was to solve a math equation on the smart board, the work could be saved and referenced later on. A teacher could save her lesson and send it to students and parents, or a teacher could save a students work expressing their thinking. Otherwise I think a smart board does not necessarily belong in an elementary school classroom.
